1 Samuel 12:24 “Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you.”

The fear of the Lord, if you grew up in the church you always heard that phrase and knew that you were supposed to have a healthy fear and respect Him. But I don’t think that I truly grasped the importance of fearing the Lord until late. We were doing a bible study on hearing from the Lord and one of the main points was on fearing the Lord first. Then is when it clicked that fearing the Lord was the building block of everything else. For wisdom,guidance, peace and much more your faith needs to be built on fearing the lord which goes along with trusting Him. It should be easy like it says look at all the great things He has done for you. Just the fact that you can read this without having to remember to make your eyes work the fact that you are breathing without thinking about it shows how much in control God is of our lives. So then why would we be afraid to fear and trust Him with the rest of our lives. This is something that I have to remind myself and just sit back and look at how amazing and powerful God is and that is when I have a peace that can only be from Him.

Application:

I will write a list of all the things that happen from the goodness of God and why I can trust Him.

IBS Week 1

Matthew 8:9-10 “I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, “Go,” and they go, or “Come,” and they come. And if I say to my slaves, “Do this,” they do it. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “ I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel! “ (NLT) Reading this I get convicted because in the past there has been times where I heard God say go but I chose not to because it would have been out of my comfort zone. Even now there are still times where I question Gods decisions but I know thats not what He wants for me, so little by little I have been trying to trust when God says go and I go. For instence when I heard the call to go to Ignite and said yes to the Lord, that decision has helped me grow deeper in my faith with Him. Matthew 5:45 “So that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” I never gave this verse much thought, yes I was taught to always be thankful for the little things. But when I took a closer look to this passage it made me even more grateful. For me I always knew the sun would rise and set with everyday, that’s what is has done all of my life so why would it be any different? God doesn’t have to make the sun rise and set, He can make it stand still like in the book of Joshua. But even though we aren’t grateful He still allows this. This is a picture of God's grace because we need the sun for plants to grow and without the sun we could not survive very long, because we would run out of nutritious food.
