IBS Week 1

Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must belive that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (NKJ)
It is so easy to think that to please God is to do works. Our culture is that you always have to repay someone if they do something for you. So it is confusing to just accept and not worry about repaying God but just trusting completly in Him. Although we don’t please God by just doing works, if we don’t put our faith into action then we truely aren’t seeking the Lord because He doesn’t just want us to have knowledge but instead He wants us to apply that knowledge. This is so amazing and mind blowing that the creator of everything would only ask for such a simple obedience. This just makes me want to grow more and more with the Lord. He could have easily made it complicated to please Him but He loved us so much and wanted a real relationship with us, so He showed us the grace we dont deserve. It seems like it would be easy to just accept and give into faith but then at the same time its so easy to lose faith in the Lord because we don’t always see or feel His presence. For me thats when I stumble, because instead of pressing further into the Lord in those moments, I just go on with my day without thinking about God or what He means.But God wants me to diligently seek after Him even in the hard times,for me that looks like reading more about Him in the gosples.  Seeking after Him is what God is calling us to do and to think He would reward us for just obeying, shows how much grace God loves to give.

IBS Week 1

Matthew 8:9-10 “I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, “Go,” and they go, or “Come,” and they come. And if I say to my slaves, “Do this,” they do it. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “ I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel! “ (NLT) Reading this I get convicted because in the past there has been times where I heard God say go but I chose not to because it would have been out of my comfort zone. Even now there are still times where I question Gods decisions but I know thats not what He wants for me, so little by little I have been trying to trust when God says go and I go. For instence when I heard the call to go to Ignite and said yes to the Lord, that decision has helped me grow deeper in my faith with Him. Matthew 5:45 “So that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” I never gave this verse much thought, yes I was taught to always be thankful for the little things. But when I took a closer look to this passage it made me even more grateful. For me I always knew the sun would rise and set with everyday, that’s what is has done all of my life so why would it be any different? God doesn’t have to make the sun rise and set, He can make it stand still like in the book of Joshua. But even though we aren’t grateful He still allows this. This is a picture of God's grace because we need the sun for plants to grow and without the sun we could not survive very long, because we would run out of nutritious food.
